Running commentary on entering UNESCO '70 and UNIDROIT '95 conventions

01 Mar, 2017 News

In 2016 Latvia announced its desire to ratify and implement two most substantial international conventions dealing with illicit transfer of cultural objects: UNESCO 1970 Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property and UNIDROIT 1995 Convention on Stolen or Illegally Exported Cultural Objects.

This is a BIG step forward and highly anticipated act by the whole art community and all those attracted to our cultural heritage.

Artlaw.online is honoured to cooperate with a member of a working group on the subject, Ms.Kate Zilgalve, who has agreed to provide a "running commentary” on the ratification process, which artlaw.online will publish every two months.

We are happy to introduce the first column by Kate in the "Running commentary” under Read it!
